It did admittedly take me a little while to really get into the story (about 60ish pages, for those wondering), but once I found myself invested, there was no going back. Overall, I really enjoyed Witches Steeped in Gold. But instead, they’re going to focus on the enemy they both share. They should be trying to kill each other. One spent her life in prison, while the other is the Queen’s daughter. Iraya and Jazmyne couldn’t be more different from one another if they tried. Content warnings include mind control, death, imprisonment, and oppression. I should probably mention that there are a few warnings to go along with this one. A lot of amazing witches, with common enemies, challenges, and battles all over the place. This novel is a Jamaican-inspired fantasy, and as you might have already guessed, it features a lot of witches. Naturally, getting a fancy copy just made me all the more excited! Witches Steeped in Gold was OwlCrate’s April Box, and it’s also admittedly a novel that I had been counting down for from the moment I first heard about it.
